APLAWS+ is a content management system specifically designed to address the demands of public administration websites who communicate with the public. APLAWS+ recognizes the needs of public administration authors and editors, and provides built in software tools and techniques to minimize the burden of managing and sharing content online. This system of support encourages institutions to continually create and update content, increasing functionality and usability for authors, editors and the website's audience. APLAWS+ is unlike any other software because it provides a solution to efficiently manage content and coordinate users within a beautiful design, which saves public administration industries time, effort and money.

Users of APLAWS+ benefit from uniquely designed software tools that extend the benefits of a content management systems to the needs of public administration and communication. The system encourages content creation, management, and updates by simplifying and streamlining the process for users. APLAWS+ also has typical national standards built into the system, such as the Government Metadata Standards (eGMS) and accessibility standards for the United Kingdom. Therefore, when a user posts, they automatically follow proper industry regulations and legal requirements.

APLAWS+ is an open source software distributed under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License Version 2 or later, and thus there is no cost for the software or licensing. APLAWS+ is an open source Collaboration and Content Management System (CCM) which, some years ago, was released as an open source project by Red Hat.
