OK, I think I have figured out what I need for my "portfolio" site.

I think that a dating or social networking cms would fulfil my needs, in that a user has a similar set of requirements: profile with pictures, search other user profiles, etc.

Of the couple I have tried, neither are right. (dolphin and osdate)

Does anyone have a list of open source social networking CMS scripts?

They must be:

  1. easy to customise
  2. well supported
  3. secure
  4. apache/mysql/php

HOnestly #3 and #4 are violations of each other.  Go look at Liferay.  It runs under another Apache project - Tomcat.  You can use MySQL but it's in Java not PHP.
